First date can seem like a hard nut to crack. Learn a few first date etiquette to know what you have to do to make a solid impression in the first go.
First date is a nerve-wracking experience for most men and women. What should I wear on the first date? What are the things to talk about on the first date? What to do on a first date? and all sorts of first date questions can seem confusing and terrifying.
First date in most cases is the only chance to make an impression on your crush. To make an indelible impression, you need to follow a few date etiquette.

Dating Etiquette for Men and Women

Dress to Kill

What is meant by dress to kill is that you need to be well dressed and well turned out. Please shave or trim the beard to give it a proper shape. Women hate the thorny stubble. Smell good and wear clean ironed clothes.
You must be presentable and not repulsive at the first sight. Women, see to it that your nails and feet are well manicured and pedicured. Your hair is in place and makeup is minimal, yet classy.
Since you are meeting the person for the first time, avoid wearing anything that could be construed as suggestive. They say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, which is why you need to be presentable for the beholder to notice you.

Chivalry is not Dead

Prove it. Prove the fact that chivalry is not dead. Small things like, picking her up, opening the door for her, drawing out the chair, complimenting her and paying the bill (unless she offers to) are the things a woman expects a man to do on the first date.
As for women, although he is paying the bill, offer to share the bill or pay it. Since he is not used to dressing up well every day, compliment and appreciate the efforts he has taken to groom himself for the date.

Be Punctual

Often we women get carried away while dressing up and lose track of time. Time lost is never going to be recovered. So you might as well be on time and save the poor guy the torture of waiting.
Also, if you are going to pick her up and are stuck in a traffic jam, inform her. No matter what the reason for getting late is, always inform the other person. An endless wait can be quite vexing and can spoil the mood.

Be Grateful

Thank the other person for taking you out and making the effort. If you've enjoyed the time, tell him or her so the next day.
Send flowers or a basket of goodies over to his/her office or place to say thank you.
If you want to see each other again it is best to inform them at the end of the date. And importantly, if the date hasn't turned out the way you expected it to be, you still can be grateful for the effort taken.
Besides these, make sure that you keep the conversations light and avoid talking about the past. Choose your conversation topics in a way that they will not lead to an argument or a heated discussion. Date etiquette are meant to help you have a good time on a date. A date can be a doorway to a beautiful relationship. Here's your chance. Don't mess it up!
